SNOW DAY! March version

Well it seems March is going to roar in like a lion ... last night (Sunday) the snow and wind and cold started and it's still snowing and blowing a bit now, at noon on Monday!

Here's what we woke up to:
Quite a bit of the cold, wet stuff here in Virginia -- so much in fact the Federal Govt even had a late-start! I guess String Bean and Bam-Bam were right -- wearing pj's backwards the night before = snow day!

We're all home, cozy and warm, with plenty of food and things to keep us busy .... so we're having some fun today with no worrying about family on the road or having to get to or from somewhere.

Prayers for all those who had to drive somewhere today ... may they soon be back with their families and friends, drinking warm drinks and enjoying the weather inside.

It's not looking too good for out and about tomorrow either ...

SNOW DAY!

FINALLY!
We woke up to threats of snow, schools closed, but no snow .... about 2 hours later, this is what the back deck rail had enough for the kids to sled for almost an hour! This is our first snowfall (that's accumulated) all season, so we even gave the home-educated kiddoes the day off! Hot cocoa*, warm binkies and old videos were the order of the day ... after sledding, that is.
Tonight, they're calling for sleeting, freezing rain which should make tomorrow another snow day ... but I'm sure we'll revert to schedule as the kiddoes actually begin to climb the walls (literally and figuratively) if they have too much time off.
* This is the cocoa recipe Mom made for us for YEARS and it's still as good today ... it's from the Betty Crocker cookbook:
4 tbls sugar
8 tbls cocoa
1 cup cold water
1/2 cup strong coffee (I added this to the original)
5 cup milk
1/2 cup chocolate chips (I added this to the original)
Mix sugar, cocoa, water and coffee in medium pot and heat over low heat for about 20 minutes (stirring periodically). Add milk and stir till hot -- about 5 minutes. Add chocolate chips and stir until chips are melted and combined into cocoa. Serve hot, poured in a coffee mug over a marshmallow. (This serves four -- so Kotch, not a sledder, got to share)!
Keep safe and warm, y'all!
